Spellcasters can be divided up into four major groups: Divine, Arcane, Primal, and Pseudo-Arcane. Divine spellcasters include paladins and clerics, those who draw all their power from their worship of and praying to a God or Goddess. Divine spellcasters do not require any contact from the Plane of Magic and therefore not only existed, but boomed in popularity during the Magical Drought. Arcane Spellcasters include wizards and sorcerers, those who draw all their power from Qati. Wizards spend years studying magic to learn to create a link with the plane of magic and develop their casting ability. Sorcerers, on the other hand, have a natural link to Qati and therefore have a natural affinity for casting spells without the need to study, although they still need to train to hone their power. Pseudo-Arcane Casters draw power from an initial source and can then amplify their power using arcane energy from the Plane of Magic. Pseudo-Arcane casters include warlocks and bards. For warlocks, this initial source is their patron, for bards it is one or more Bardic Spirits. Because of this warlocks and bards continued to exist throughout the Magical Drought, unlike full arcane casters such as wizards and sorcerers. Primal spellcasters draw their power from the magical essence found in nature, calling upon the spirits of the trees and rivers or even a nature deity such as Kern or Frithsaet. Primal spellcasters include druids and rangers.
