Tartarean Tieflings trace their ancestry back to a group of Humans corrupted by the Lord of the Nine, Prometheus. Prometheus ravaged the village of these Humans with attacks from Devils, depleting their food, destroying their homes, murdering their friends, all the lead the survivors to great despair. Once the village was desperate enough, Prometheus presented them with the False Flame, disguised as Brigantia, Goddess of Protection, promising them safety by touching the flame. The village was desperate, and any chance they had to recognize the trick was gone. The village was corrupted into the servitude of Prometheus and were marked as his by their red skin. Still, some Hobgoblins retain their Humanity, often working and living alongside Humans. Furthermore, their link to Prometheus gives them a certain expertise into diplomacy, politics, and strategy.
