Augur of the Void, Former Empyrean to Amenotokotachi
Mjoken, known most often by his title “Star King,” is the former Empyrean to Amenotokotachi. Once a loyal follower of the king of the heavens, Mjoken wielded holy lightning like no other. However, Mjoken was headstrong and not one to follow orders, even from the Okami. His research into the other elements led him to a discovery that would lead him to being ousted from the pantheon and striped of his title of Empyrean. He found within each element a void, infinite in nature, that connected the elements to one another and offered more power than any one element. However such a teaching was deemed heretical by the Okami, and Mjoken was stripped of his title and banished from the pantheon. In an act of irony, Mjoken was locked away in the very void he discovered.
Mjoken, from his vacuous kingdom, attempts to influence the world through the other elements. Though most of the time, the flickering of flame or rushing of water is enough to overpower the sound of his voice, every now and then someone comes along who can hear his whispering in the breeze or thunder. Those who do are usually swayed by the Star King and are offered instruction on how to find the void. Joining Mjoken in the void between elements involves giving up your corporeal form and becoming one with the space between. All that is left is the consciousness, the knowledge of existence without any form of feedback is enough to drive some mad, but those truly devoted to the cause find solace in being a part of something bigger than themselves.
Though joining the void means giving up all that makes oneself, those who undergo the divine pilgrimage do join what is referred to as the Void Chorus, becoming a Voidcantor. Each voice added to the void chorus amplifies Mjoken’s own, offering a feedback loop that allows Mjoken to add to the chorus at an exponential rate. Still, Mjoken seeks to influence the material realm, and, at times, has succeeded, to varying degrees. Mjoken is one of the leading candidates for the murder of the first Qati, having collected a body to inhabit, he abdicated his throne and emptied out the Void of its chorus in order to strengthen himself. In the end, however, he was defeated and sent back to the void, but he is as infinite as the Void, and it is only a matter of time until his chorus grows again.
