During the War on the Aboleths, Couatl came to our world from [Adzilud](Ylembica/Concerning Planes/Adzilud/Adzilud) to fight their corrupted opposites, the Aboleths. While most of the Couatl stayed in the sky to fight their enemies, some chose to adopt more Human forms, to soothe, heal, and guide the oppressed to freedom. When the Aboleths were defeated, many Couatl had lost their lives in the war. Couatl did not fear death, innate to their nature they believed death returned their soul to their home plane of Adzilud. In time, the energy that composed their soul would be used to birth new life, Couatl or otherwise, and so nothing was lost. For their heroism, the god of Couatls, [Totec](Ylembica/Concerning Worship/Apignosis/Aeons/Totec), was given a realm within Adzilud that had been left abandoned by one of the [Archons](Ylembica/Concerning Worship/Apignosis/Angels/Archons/Archons). Along with the sphere, Totec would lend a hand in imbuing life into the Husks left behind by the [Demiurges](Ylembica/Concerning Worship/Goetia/Demiurges/Demiurges) and Aboleths. While others used soul energy with little regard, Totec was careful to use only that which was previously Couatl. In imbuing the husks with Couatl souls, he created the Aasimar. Aasimar have a close relationship with the Couatl, touched by the Sphere of Light. Many Aasimar look to Couatl as spiritual ancestors, born of the same souls, while Couatl revere Aasimar as something of a spiritual cousin.

Aasimar are similar to [Humans](Ylembica/Concerning Persons/Atzial/Humans/Humans) in height and build, but similarities end there. Their skin comes in a variety of shades from a bright blue to a dull grey, their eyes were often a solid silver, with no pupil or iris. Their hair also ranges from more Human tones like black and blonde, to vibrant shades of blue and red. Those capable of sprouting wings have wings that resemble a Couatl. A person might go their entire life never discovering they are an Aasimar, as some just look like ordinary Humans.

Aasimar are most plentiful in the region of Seaclaid, where the Couatl and their descendants are seen as especially holy. They often hold high positions in the clergy as people are drawn to their religious leadership. They often organize in communities around ancient ziggurats built long ago by their spiritual ancestors. The first cities of Seaclaid sprouted up around these communities, and though they were ruled politically by the humans, the Aasimar held a special place among the clergy of these cities, often directing the religious happenings of the citizenry.
