Elemental Grains of Energy
This magic bakery is staffed by Larondai Salvucci, a halfling from Vatheim. The staff at Elemental Grains of Energy specializes in elemental magic that allow them to make great bread with expert precision. Using fire magic they control temperature level; water magic allows them to control moisture levels and allows them to even remove moisture from a bread if they added too much; earth magic gives them control over salt content, allows them to shift stones one which they bake their bread, and allows them to use metals or rocks to knead their dough; air magic allows them to control the amount of air captured in the bread, allowing them to control how dense their bread is.
The Tongueless Monk
The Tongueless Monk is the only tavern in all of Vigil. It is a well-known establishment to the denizens of Vigil, and is also one of the tallest buildings in Vigil. Atop the tavern are several floors of rooms, as it serves as one of the only places for travelers to sleep in town. The bottom floor is the tavern, which is ran by the orc Sir Halel El-Sarkeed, better known as Hal within the walls of the Tongueless Monk. He has paid top dollar to the resident artificer, Iora, to fit the bar with any and all contraptions that make his job easier. That includes: tankards that float to their recipient and keep the drink cold in the process, taps that automatically pour exactly one glass,
The Potted Paladin
The storefront of the Potted Paladin is small and cramped, with more room dedicated to displays of herbs and spices than for standing customers. Most of the square footage of the shop is dedicated to the massive greenhouse behind the shop. The greenhouse is where the namesake of the store, Siofra Evergreen, spends most of her time. The store is owned and run by the aforementioned Siofra, as well as her husband Sazier Neimim. The two met when Sazier’s village was attacked by Ogres and Siofra, along with a few other paladins came to the rescue. Siofra was also badly injured in the ensuing chaos, but still managed to bandage Sazier’s wounds. The two settled near Vigil and eventually opened up an herbalist’s shop. With the help of the school, the two were able to learn some enchantments to place upon their plants, helping both the students and staff of the school, by adventuring passersby.
High Socie-Tea
High Socie-Tea is a quaint little tea shop specializing in enchanted tea, although they also serve regular tea. Owned and staffed by Hori and helped out by his nephew Okuz, High Socie-Tea offers a wide arrangement of teas sampled from around the world. They are particularly known for enchanting all their teas to always be warm.
Morel Compass
Morel Compass is run by twin druids Kiffer and Fluegler Raufmann, who offer a variety of mushrooms aimed at realigning your inner moral compass. Their offerings are enhanced with divine magics that cause you to think and act in ways alternative to how you normally act, allowing you to pass off as more devilish, Godly, chaotic, or lawful, or shift you back towards neutrality.
Sugarmancy
Sugarmancy is the brainchild of linguist Jean-Claude Presbytère and confectioner Clara Saffire. They serve a variety of confections that have the secondary purpose of allowing the consumer to speak and understand any common language for a short period of time. These sweets can bestow languages such as Common, Elvish, or Dwarvish, but can also reach into unfamiliar territory such as Goblin, Sylvan, and even Deep Speech.
Nuttso’s
Nuttso’s is named for its owner, Nuttso the wizard. Nobody knows if Nuttso is his true name or a self-chosen title. Nuttso the Wizard is shrouded in mystery, one day he just showed up and opened up a nut stand, eventually growing it into the store it is today. Nuttso’s techniques are unknown, and little is known about the man, and we’re not even sure it is just one person, as often you’ll find the store staffed by “someone else” claiming to be Nuttso. One day you may arrive to meet the person most people attach to the Nuttso name, a dark skinned Human with a long white beard; but other times you may be met with a gold Dragonborn, a bronze-skinned Elven woman, or a silver skinned Tiefling.
Dairy Druid
Dairy Druid is run by Cìobair, an Elven former-shepherd from Sa Imréitigh. He spent several decades as a shepherd in Sa Imréitigh before taking his expertise to Vigil. The Dairy Druid offers a variety of enchanted cheeses and other dairy products, such as yogurts, puddings, and milkshakes. Cìobair travelled far and wide, interviewing people of all professions, taking in their expertise to infuse his cheeses. Each cheese is magically infused with the experiences to allow consumers to gain momentary foresight into a different line of work.
Mispellania
Mispellania is a newer store in Vigil. Run by Thedelmeyer Po and his wife Medrica, who act as the artist and the finances, respectively. Thedelmeyer is very disorganized, and if it weren’t for Medrica, the shop would likely be in ruins. Mispellania sells a variety of magical items, typically those more common and less likely to require intensive labor to produce.
