The Qlifot, also known as the Tree of Witchcraft or the Tree of Darkness, is the mirror of The Sfirot in all ways. Usually envisioned as the roots of the Tree of Magic, The Qlifot thrives in darkness, just as the Sfirot thrives in light. Though dangerous, it is typically seen as the route of lesser resistance when studying magic, but one that comes at a higher prices to those that pursue it. As put in an old saying “It is easier to hastily climb the tree than it is to give respect to the branches, and even easier is digging oneself into a hole with no regard for the roots. But the deeper the hole, the harder it is to pull yourself out, and if the branches are broken, descent is akin to death.” This saying points to the idea that the further you pursue the dark magic of the Qlifot, the harder it becomes to stop, but also points to being cautious in “climbing” the Sfirot, taking your time to get your footing on each “branch” of the tree, as breaking a branch will make it hard for you to descend to a resting state.
