The Auloniad, Muse of Song and Time
agg-RHY-oh-pea Rhymes with “Bag eye blow she.”
Agriope is the Muse of Song and Time. Often known by her epithet “The Auloniad,” Agriope is primarily concerned with the frequency of events over a given period, which extends into the art of song and the science of time. Her blessings leave the enlightened with a keen understanding of time, especially the relationship between sound and time, giving them perfect pitch. Perfect pitch might not fully describe it, as her blessing gives people the ability to determine even the slightest differences in sounds that they’ve heard before. This understanding is fundamental to art of song, as singers must be able to discern between pitches and alter them accordingly to produce a harmonious tone. The pitch a singer performs at is simply a mathematical equation, and Agriope gives her chosen the ability to discern on a moments notice the difference between sounds. Beyond that, their understanding of time is heightened, and they are able to perceive on a much faster scale than a normal person, as well as remember the frequency of a certain event occurring with uncanny precision.
Her blessed of course, include singers of all kinds, from opera to folk, famous bard to street performers, but she reaches beyond that to scouts and spies, who need to be able to discern between the sound a twig makes when stepped on by a Human versus when stepped on by a bear in order to determine danger levels.
