Satyrs are inextricably linked to the Muses and, thus, the arts and sciences. Highly curious, Satyrs are driven to learning, though they do not pursue learning through the conventional methods of schooling and apprenticeship like their cousins, the Gnomes. Instead, they pursue enlightenment from the cosmos via the Muses. They seek out the convergence of Ley Lines, arcs of great cosmic power residing within the land, to find locations of intense potency. Upon finding these convergences, they make temporary residency, and begin to work. They spend nearly the entire day, even forgoing meals and hygiene in pursuit of knowledge. Priests and priestesses play music as scholars take herbs and salves that induce visions of the cosmos and the knowledge they hold. After a week or two, the power dissipates, and the Satyrs move on to their search for their next location. However, before leaving, they take with them secrets unlocked by the Muses. The ritual is strange and the rhythms and movements made by those partaking is off-putting as they contort in a combination of pain and pleasure and discovery, but there is no denying that it produces results.
