Goddess of Omens and the Battlefield. Queen of the Walkyrie. Ruler of Valhalla and Paramount of the Abyss.
The Morrigan was once a proud Goddess of war and companion to Mars, but while Mars was venerated as the God of Peace and Victory, the Morrigan was loathed as an omen of bloodshed. Her presence was often a sign of death on the battlefield, but was merely her attempt at preventing the conflict before it could turn out the way she had seen and achieve the end goal of peace, same as Mars; still, warriors began to look at her with malice. While Mars’ dove was worshipped as a symbol of peace and victory, the Morrigan’s crows were killed by warriors in an attempt to prevent the result of the omen, not realizing that the crows were warnings of fates foretold. Eventually, the disdain led to the Morrigan abandoning her post, and secluding herself to the lands of the forgotten, Shadowfell, where she would hopefully be left alone, and her crows would no longer suffer at her hand.
However, the Shadowfell is harsh, even to veteran war deities. Eventually, being forgotten stopped being a blessing and started being a curse. Though she tried to fight against it, and even found comfort in Thecla’s embrace, nothing could prevent the inevitable decay into madness and erasure of her memory. She wound up a shell of her former self, remembering only bits and pieces. She remembered her role on the battlefield, but forgot its purpose, she remembered her crows, but forgot what they meant to her, she remembered Mars, but not his importance. Instead, she sought to place the same fate on Mars as was done to her, and if not Mars, then his warriors.
After sometime, she was once again given purpose as the Queen of the Walkyrie, ruler over several dispirit and forgotten deities. She took her new army and left the Shadowfell, marching upon the then-empty Woddrasil and transporting Valhalla to its new home at the top of the tree. As such, she took command over the Everwant Tree, at least, as much as any being could hope to. She handed over control of the spheres of the Abyss to her Walkyries and set about finding and conquering new worlds to feed the tree.
