Endonym: Maintes

The Maintes, better known to the rest of the world as Halflings, are the third and latest dream of the Uneiroi. Born of the dreams of the God of Prophecies, Tasos, the Halflings are imbued with the natural gift of bending reality to their will, if only slightly. Halflings make great diviners because of their relation to the God of Prophetic Dreams, and their slumber is often viewed as a ritual akin to other holy acts. Although like all Dreams, Halflings are ancient, they are said to be the newest Dream, with some obscure Gnomish apocrypha telling tales of when Halflings were born. Being the “newest” of the Dreams, Halflings are also the least plentiful. Though Gnomes are by far the most plentiful and most often the ones with real power, being the ones to build ancient empires, some of which are still standing, and Goblins have multiplied in their exile, Halflings are often looked to in both societies as seers, and often occupy the highest positions in the clergy.

Halflings often partake in hallucinogenic drugs to give their dreams extra potency, however the side effect of this is that a large portion of the halfling population, especially the holy seers, are chronically addicted to the drugs that are supposed to open their eyes. Gnomes, Goblins, and even races beyond the smallfolk will often use the addictions to keep Halflings subdued and servient.
